Hi, I saw where it's possible to apply for more than one position. For writers, if we have a BKDK story that has a rape/non con scene, would it be better to use that as a sample for the Dead Dove Writer application? Also, are writers limited to apply as either NSFW or Dead Dove? Thank you
Hello! You’re not limited on only applying for one section!
As for the example, it would be preferred to use dead dove themes to apply for the dead dove section.
However, if you’re applying for NSFW and only have dead dove examples then that is fine to submit. Just be sure to have it properly tagged in the document, or stated in a comment in addition to providing the link to your work.

hello~! is it alright to use an excerpt for the second fic submission on writers apps? most of my nsfw come from longer fics but the scenes themselves could stand on their own ^^;

Hello there! You’ve previously stated you’re taking on 8 writers, but there are 3 zines. Will writers be asked to write for both, or will certain writers be assigned to certain zines? Is it possible for a writer to be in the add-ons, but not the physical zine? I want to apply for the main and add-ons but really like being able to hold my physical work, so I wanted to ask in case there was a chance I’d only get assigned to the digital versions. Also, thank you for running this amazing zine!

We're welcoming writers to contribute across multiple sections. However, there are several factors we take into consideration: their interest in different sections, their desire to create multiple pieces, and their overall application.
As a result, it's possible for someone to be invited to create pieces for the NSFW or Dead Dove sections but not for the SFW section.
If you strongly prefer your work to be able to be in the SFW section as your main focus, please mention this in your application, we have a comment box at the end. We'll take note of your preference and consider it during our review process!

I saw on your guidelines that bdsm is considered within the problematic category for the zine.
Is this the entire subject/category of bdsm or just certain aspects/harder kinks like noncon, cnc, asphyxiation, etc?
Can you be a little bit more clear with the distinction, please? I'm curious because bdsm as a whole is a wide category with many different aspects and in some cases it can not even include sex so lumping the entire category into dd/problematic feels a bit kink shamey if I'm being honest?

Just certain aspects/harder kinks! We listed "Heavy Kink & BDSM" But to give some more kink specific examples: CNC, Imprisonment, Electrostimulation, CBT, Medical Play, Asphyxiation, to name a few. With everything, there is a spectrum and while some types of kinks can fall into different categories we trust that those writing these types of fics are educated on kink and know where the line is.
You're correct that there is a variety within the category. If you have specific kinks in mind, I implore you to drop a DM to us on twitter and we can directly answer you there.
On the topic of kink shaming...
Our section is Dead Dove/Problematic, the slash meaning and/or. It does not mean we believe BDSM or kink to be problematic. The concept of a dead dove fic is that its a warning saying "Hey, this fic contains some darker elements, be advised" It does not mean the contents are inherently problematic.

Hello! How many contributors will you be accepting for each category and are there any themes/tags not allowed in applications or the zine?
Hi there! The amount of contributors we're accepting through applications are as follows: 8 writers, 4 merch artist, and 20 artist.
For application tags, We've added a detailed document on our guidelines tab, via our carrd, that has content that will/wont be allowed within the zine itself.
We highly encourage avoiding those tags when applying, but we recognize that might not be possible. In the case that you don't have any works that avoid those tags, please still submit what you DO have. As long as it's tagged properly when applying we will still review it!

Is there a way to check if I've already filled out the interest check form? I can't remember lol
As we don't collect any identifying information there isn't way for us to check if you've filled it out before, unfortunately. You could always try the following:
• Checking browser history to see if you've visited the form before.
• See if you've had a conversation with a friend where you mentioned you filled it out.
If those don't work, or you still feel unsure, I'd say go ahead and fill it out.
