What do you do to prepare for an exam? How far in advance do you prepare?

I try not to think "EXAM IN 7/6/5/4 DAYS!" Just up the amount of study time a bit, maybe a week before. Don't sit for hours on end poring over stuff because your brain gets fried and you won't be taking anything in. Have breaks. Get totally away from it for a couple of hours at a time. And don't pull an all-nighter the night before if you're not used to it. All you'll do is be so tired you can't remember a thing, your brain will be mush, and you'll be on edge. Two things I find really useful. Set a timer for 2/3 hours. Don't stop until it goes off, and do stop when it does. Have a break then start again. Also, I find typing things out helps embed information - something about eyes to fingers to eyes to brain.
