Today i witnessed in the tram how a nazi told a foreign looking guy that he will kill his children and that he should go to auschwitz. The nazi was clearly bigger and stronger than me. Was it wrong that i stayed silent?
No, you should have said something. I know it’s fucking scary, but maybe it might have spurred other people on the tram to join in with you too, and then he’s the one that’ll be scared. And just maybe he’ll think twice about his actions in future. Put yourself in the person being abused’s place: wouldn’t you have liked someone to stand up for you instead of turning away?
