How many sprays do you usally apply when you wear a perfume and where do you apply them?

I dated a girl who had a fascinating ritual - sprayed it into the air, made a little cloud, and then walked through the cloud...anyway if I wear something I hit the neck and maybe the chest once each and call it a day
