Do you own any KR belt? If yes, which one?
My brother owns one, from the original Kamen Rider of course~
But I have none; he's the real fun!
In a world of anthros where next to no humans were extinct, if they still have zoos, wud they be houses or prisons, depending on purpose?
Oh, huh; I suppose they'd need some modifying in both cases, but I think I'd go with prisons. If humans are still around, I can see some of them perceiving anthros as lesser beings; they would most certainly take pleasure in humiliating them to make them appear more beastly and dangerous.
RIDERRRR KIICKKK!! I’m assuming that the scarf and grasshopper look are intentional but I have to ask, intentional kamen rider reference?
Very intentional. I couldn't wait to get to this guy, tbh.
So what about mixing PS1 level of body horror with something "cool and cute" was an interesting idea for you? Also, was it really a good idea to have Abigail from your webcomic Gone Feral look like Holly Hollister from Endtown? I know it was one of your inspirations for your project, but that just makes the comparisons harder for your audience to ignore.
There is so much to unpack, I will try to keep it short for real this time.
I often hear people say you can't mix cartoons with actual drama; I call bullshit. There's something incredibly real about a cute critter overcoming impossible, often horrifying tasks. I don't know why I like it, maybe it's because I grew up reading Osamu Tezuka and Disney, as well as some obscure cartoons I won't mention, while also being continuously exposed to some fucked up shit that made me shit my pants as a kid (I was a huge whimp).
As for the second question; Gone Feral was NOT a good idea. It was desperate. I embrace the similarities with confidence, knowing that you will see just how different it is as time progresses and the comic develops. It might be my first, actual attempt at a long term narration, but it won't be the last. I was bound to make mistakes, I will make many more.
And I love it.
Who would win, you while using a bat as the weapon or a bat while using you as the weapon?
I'd break first hit if I was used as a weapon, so it might be a better strategy if I wield the bat. Granted, I would need to keep as far as I can and never get hit, not even ONCE.
Now that I think about it, not fighting at all might be the best approach.
What are your thooughts on the archbishop of costantinople?
Heehee, he's got a funny hat.
foot fetish
Smells fishy.
Do you consider yourself a furry artist?
I consider myself a "squiggle man". I leave the labeling to everyone else. Do you consider me a furry artist?
What are your thoughts on creating a physical release of your comic in the future?
It'd be a dream come true.
I'm keeping all the original big res files just in case!
I have a few questions
What is that rabbit thing you use in your profile icon, and what was the design inspired by
What was it like when gone feral started gaining traction on Twitter
When creating the story of gone feral did you have help/inspiration from others, like for example your GF.
P.s. I hope your having a good day, and will continue to have them.
Q: What is that rabbit thing you use in your profile icon, and what was the design inspired by
The rabbit is... he's uh... huh. A lapin of sorts. A hare? The design was inspired by... um. He's wearing long johns on his head, ain't it cool? (Say yes, he's listening...)
Q: What was it like when gone feral started gaining traction on Twitter?
I know plenty of Twitter users go on their way to say numbers are not important, and there's merit to that statement, but it felt really encouraging that people would think anything of it. I started certain no one would have cared. Thanks about that.
Q: When creating the story of gone feral did you have help/inspiration from others, like for example your GF.
Yes, I never post a page without showing my friends too. They make a huge difference, a pair of them are even going on their way to help making sure the grammar flows properly in English. That's a big help, since it's not my first language.
My GF is always the first to see them. She helps with the overall direction as well.
If any other artist is bored enough to read through these and got here, PLEASE: always show your work and listen to the feedback, even when it burns a little.
Q: P.S. I hope your having a good day, and will continue to have them.
I know this is from a pair of days ago, but thanks a lot~ Likewise! Thanks for the questions too. Answering is fun and it's good English practice.
Why 'SuperFrenzyHare'? Being just on a whim is also accepted!
Alright, not gonna try to be the cool kid around the block and act like I didn't even care; nicknames to me are like superhero masks to a kid, I fucking love coming up with them, I thought about it plenty!
The actual answer: it's because I love rabbits, I wanted to reference it somewhere in my name, but a bunny attached to the image of a grown ass man felt... off.
So I went with a hare because it seemed, y'know, more slick. Didn't want to send off creepy vibes. The "super" part was because I wanted it to feel game-y, the "frenzy" one represents my rush and anxiousness when it comes to finish works because I'm slowly dying.
Still love rabbits though = :B
Do you like paws?
Who doesn't, paws are adorable.
How did you came with the idea of Gone Feral?
WOO, questions! Didn't see people sent any, apologies if it took this long to answer.
Cool, uh, so... I'll make it very short; heading towards 30 years old and fearing being "too cringe" to write a story or waiting to "be good enough" started to feel a little silly a few months back. The urge to just get practical pushed me to put down the first thing that came to mind.
Me and my GF were playing RE and talking Parasite Eve + Silent Hill around that time and I couldn't stop thinking about how to mix that kind of PS1 era body-horror with something cute and cool, like the cartoons I grew up with as a kid.
Why? Send another question, otherwise take this for an answer until then: I'm sick, call help.
Endtown from Aaron Neathery immediately came to mind as a successful example (if you didn't read it yet fix it right away, it's a webcomic freely available online) and I begun picturing a Brisby like mouse girl looking at her own reflection in the mirror, distraught and shocked, with lots of golden hair.
I felt anxious and emphatic towards her immediately, for some reason. I started from there.
