I've been wanting to ask this for a very long time, since some had done. Just a simple question: where can I read 86 volume 13? I know you are translating (as far as I've heard)

Ebook versions are available on all the usual online bookstores, amazon for instance.

NikuNiku 2 is (mostly, par a few routes) amazing. I def liked it a lot more than the 1st game. Would love to hear your opinion on it if you ever get the chance to play it

If you like Banya why not read Nikuniku 2? I hear it's widely considered his best work.

Just finished 86 vol 13. Super enjoyed it. Thank you again for your translations and I wish you the very best in your new apartment. Happy Holidays also!

You did the Sadistic Blood translation? You did amazing work on it. I especially loved all the dialogue between the doctor/scientist guy and his assistant. Idk how engaging the JP was but you did an amazing job making sure the writing/dailogue was so engaging and fun to read. I hope you translate more Izumi Banya works in the future 🙏

Thank you! So much praise today. I'm glad you liked Sadblood, it's a precious game imo. Blackcyc in a neat little package.

Why did MangaGamer publish A Tale of Love and Cutthroat when they have a good working relationship with Clockup?

I assume you mean didn't.
I don't know the inner workings but Shiravune is DMM and tgerefore has contacts with jp devs and there are no exclusivity deals when it comes to publishing. If I had to guess they got outbid?

Know it's your job but thanks for the Cutthroat Lovers translation. (Also Sadistic Blood, I love that short VN).

...with the release of 86 vol 13, just wanted to express my gratitude to you! Thank you for all the hard work and care you put into the translation!

Will moving to Japan open up more freelance opportunities or is it more a lifestyle change/improvement?

Anonymous Coward · 18d

Do you think the Gundam SEED light novels will ever get picked up and translated again? I thought with the Freedom movie being a success this year that it woulf finally happen but :(

Couldn't tell you, it honestly depends on what the publisher for the novels wants to do with them.

Curious about your career, did you have to pass JLPT N1 to start freelance translating? Or was it more about strucking gold with the right contract at the right time? Or both? Wishing you luck on your new endeavours and thanks again for your translations!

I didn't do JLPT yet (I probably should, it's a much more strict requirement in Japan) but no, it wasn't necessary to start translating. It was basically striking gold like you said, and once I got my foot in the door I was able to use that work to ask publishers for tl tests.
Thanks for the kind wishes!
