I wouldn't say threatened. I'm glad someone else is showing an interest in baking! Heck, I'd actually be pretty excited to meet him and share some recipes and tricks I've learned. The way I see it, cooking and baking are inherently collaborative. One is a form of art that you can not only feed other people, but takes pictures of and share around. There's a million and one food blogs about healthy and/or artistic looking dishes! Baking is much of the same. Sweet desserts or delicious pastries to give away to friends.
So no, I wouldn't say he threatens me in any way. I work hard to perfect my craft, and I'm not perfect. Maybe he's better. But I prefer to see that as a healthy challenge to meet his skill level, or an opportunity to learn from him.
