not sure if you've answered this before, but: what were the most important writing inspirations and influences for ChoPro? (in terms of narrative, style, or whatever)
Hi Purkka! 🦁💖
In terms of narrative, I built a lot of the framework of my story based on experiences from my life. As a guitarist, I've been in and out of local music shops my whole life. I wanted to write a story with that kind of setting and examining the culture around around these places. My characters are the same way. They all carry little pieces of me.
Regarding plot, I often think about unfolding my story in a "formulaic" kind of way. I want to balance out calm, exciting, and dramatic moments. So, I'll tend to structure story beats with that formula in mind.
I'll be honest, I'm not really sure what my style is or where it comes from. My best guess is my technical writing background. At my old job, I had to write and read several standard operating procedures. That kind of writing prioritizes utility and clarity which gave me lots of tools to develop a good intuition for sentence structure. For dialogue, I do my best to think about the ways people organically speak and do my best to capture that.
