I remember hearing someone talk about this specifically about women, because it was like a thing some men were using to make women seem crazy or put them down for liking. And their theory, and I think I agree with it, was we are very interested in it to learn from it. Subconsciously, we want to know the worst possibilities so we can arm ourselves to not allow it in our own lives. Unfortunately I don’t think it works though. No matter your knowledge on the topic true crime stories can be so undetected until after. Hindsight is 20/20. You can watch a bunch of videos and wonder why signs weren’t read, why something wasn’t done sooner. And that can be hard to understand.
