I fancy the idea that the term "body count" is of us origin and the weaponised heroes conquering the Wild West really would not know anything but their Colt as a universal tool for basically everything.
nah the context and intent behind a word's use are much more important than where the word came from, besides war and death words/phrases/metaphors/analogies are widespread throughout language, they are part of the common human experience everywhere, they get used because everyone can quickly wrap their heads around the concepts for more efficient communication, hey I heard in French an orgasm is called 'petit mort'? Literally 'little death' ...here people will say they 'bombed' an exam if they did poorly, comedians 'killed' if they did well, anyway I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's how you use the words that make them ethical or not - like with a gun, shooting the machete-wielding guy running at you wouldn't be considered unethical, but taking the same gun and shooting the same ammo at the lunch lady because she forgot the gravy would be
