Hello! I love writing Gumayusi and I'm always more than happy to talk about tacenda (although are they headcanons if I'm the author...?). Anyway, where to start? In tacenda, I think his core characteristics are pretty much the same as the one in most other fics: intense loyalty, patience, mental strength and resilience, confident, and very rational.

His role in the team is pretty much the same—he's the rock and the foundation of the team. He holds them together, especially after things fall apart. In tacenda, particularly with Faker being somewhat...shall I say unpredictable? It's really up to Oner and Gumayusi to hold things together and if Oner falters, then its all Gumayusi.

Originally, I wasn't going to give him too hard of a time backstory-wise, but as the joke goes—happy people don't go out to fight dragons. For now though, all I'll say about his backstory was that besides "Folk Hero", the other background I would have given him was "Gladiator".

His least favorite spell, at least for now, is Arcane Eye, which is a spell that creates an invisible eye that can move around and look at things for up to an hour. He can't cast this and he doesn't personally know anyone close to him that can, he just doesn't like the spell. His favorite is any kind of healing spell/ability for probably obvious reasons.

If he ever meets Jeesun (or Bang, if Gumayusi somehow makes his way into the realm of the dead), he's immediately going to find himself adopted. Bengi has had to stop himself from telling Gumayusi that he reminded him of another range he used to know. One of the first things he asked Deft when he joined the Guild was to teach him how to pick locks and use Thieves Tools and thus Gumayusi is currently the only member of T1 who knows how to use them. This is also a skill he's told himself he's never going to forget.

Despite everyone else on T1 being non-humans, he's also the one who can see the best in the dark! There are mechanics behind this, but its still interesting. His Ranger class specification began because he liked to run off into the deep woods as a kid with a bow and just vibe until he had to come back (read: his eldest siblings dragged him back before he could accidentally come across some monster or trip into another neighboring plane like Innovation) but almost all of his other skills, including the fact that his favored enemies are Monstrosities instead of Beasts are from a single, but three year long unfortunate event.

He's also the one member of OGK that consistently remembers that Zeus doesn't actually need to breathe as a Air Genasi Lineage, despite Oner having known Zeus for much longer and Keria being a Lore Bard. He finds the fact that Oner can purr and that his eyes can dilate just like a cat's really cute, but that's not going to stop Gumayusi from relentlessly teasing him for it. From talking to Keria about various monsters and planes, he's fairly certain he knows Chovy's identity as a dhampir but he hasn't asked yet and Keria doesn't realize that Gumayusi's pretty much put it all together. He is, however, the only person Keria's told about Doran being a Reborn.

Hello! They tend to just...pop up unexpectedly? I'm someone who's very affected by music and I love analyzing lyrics and such, so when I'm idly listening to my playlist, sometimes the lightbulb will just go off! Usually its a lyric/section of lyrics that reminds me of a player/scene/relationship and then I get the urge to recreate that.

The Two Birds on a Wire was due to me finding low's post, but that's kind of an exception? I also used to watch AMVs all the time as a kid and I still look up edits people do of my various fandoms, so I'm definitely at least unconsciously influenced by those too. I know there are at least two (Keria's edit and one of Gumayusi's) that were because they were fast paced trend edits that were catchy so I used them because I was bored and I like making snappy transitions.

As for making the edits themselves; like I said, I used to watch AMVs (and animatics/animation memes) all the time and dream up my own so usually what happens is that I'll hear a song or a clip and start daydreaming. I talked to some others, and for some reason this method only worked for me, but if you happen to encounter this again (hopefully you won't, but the information is still nice to have), google's exact search operator helps a lot. Searching up a specific quote bounded by double quotation marks will look for exact matches, and adding "ao3" (without quotation marks) to the end helps narrow it down further. Sometimes, you might not find anything since ao3 has the option to hide an author's work if the author toggles this on, and in that case, the best way to search is just using ao3's advanced search with tags you think the original fic would likely have used. Hi! I'm doing well, thank you, and I'm sorry about the late response. This ship started because of tacenda, so I'll start with that AU. Honestly, this all started by accident. I was talking with a friend about the stretch of time when Faker was MIA and about how Bengi and Deft had likely bonded over their shared pain and grief and when Faker reappeared...I'm not particularly a fan of love triangles and am a specific type of multishipper so I think I just jumped to a group dynamic from there hah. From tacenda, since that fic's relationships are walking on a very strange line between romantic and platonic, I shifted to other AUs where it then became polyamory. Anyway, about the ships and dynamics themselves:

Faker/Deft is a little strange to me because I think this ship works only in very specific circumstances. The way I view them is like putting two flamethrowers against each other. They're both strong-willed and, in their younger and more argumentative years, would inevitably butt heads as well as burn down a building if put in a room together. Bengi in comparison is a very chill person and can take the role of mediator/voice of reason/singular braincell if he tries. Adding him in creates a middle ground.

As for Bengi/Faker, I think it's very easy for Faker to completely overpower Bengi in the relationship (in a "there is one person here with strong opinions and so that person wins" kind of way) if he isn't careful, especially if we're talking about early Bengi/Faker. Adding Deft to the dynamic gives Faker someone that'll stand up to him casually. Bengi strikes me as the kind of person who's good at settling fights from the outside, but not defending himself if he's in one.

Finally, Bengi/Deft...it's the awkward third side. I honestly don't think they've interacted more than like three times IRL and they don't have the same storyline Faker/Deft do. Because of this, they’re the most AU dynamic (ranking is Bengi/Faker < Faker/Deft < Bengi/Deft), but thinking about AUs is fun, no? Anyway, it tends to be, in my mind at least, the kind of thing where it's "we loved the same person and found ourselves in the same shadow" (I should probably preface this all with the fact that I tend to think of this ship getting together in the earlier years since older Faker/Deft is an entirely different dynamic than younger Faker/Deft). Younger Faker feels kind of like a bulldozer and I think Bengi is very much in danger of getting run over. In comparison, Deft feels...gentler? Kinder? At the very least, he knows how it feels to be left behind and overshadowed. Rather convenient coincidence that the person overshadowing Bengi and Deft is the same person.

This pairing still isn't perfect though, so I think it ends up coming off as Bengi/Faker but slightly to the left. It's a bit calmer, maybe, but knowing a younger Faker, I don't think he's willing to give up Bengi like that and Bengi definitely isn't willing to leave Faker, so he gets pulled in. Or it's the other way around, because it's undeniable that Faker has gravity. There's also the issue of (younger) Deft being far more willing to leave compared to Faker and having a far more fragile mental. This is maybe around half a joke, but I'm fairly certain that in situations where Bengi can't do anything to drag Deft out of a mental boom, Faker could annoy him out by inflicting such visceral feelings of spite that Deft keeps on playing.

The three of them together is like...hm. I suppose it's like a scale. The two arms and the two weights kept in balance atop a lever. Remove one element and it unbalances. Faker/Deft match each other in a way Bengi, with his personality, really can't, and Bengi himself keeps the two of them from imploding or exploding. The older version of this ship is a lot less volatile, with Faker/Deft being more stable and being more emotionally mature and with Bengi being more willing to stand up for himself. The older version is harder to get together though, if they aren't already, partially because by then, Deft has stabilized enough that he doesn't quite fit into the dynamic as easily compared to his younger self. Think of it as metal in a blacksmith’s forge. Easier to hammer together while hot then cooled, no?

Sorry about the long response anon, and I think I deviated a bit (or a lot), but I hope I answered your question at least somewhat! This ship got revived (kind of?) around two and a half months ago through tacenda, and likely qualifies as a crack ship, but it's a very interesting dynamic that I'm always glad to talk about. Kind of funny how this ship started because of Faker's role in tacenda, but arguably, the most important element to them working out in AUs (in the way I think of them at least), is Deft. A deep sea submersible having a leak should immediately kill everyone like the Oceangate submarine, and this submersible is missing a good chunk of hull and interior. What should be fished up is a crumpled hunk of metal like a can beneath the shoe of an overeager child. No survivors should be the least of it. But hey it's 2004 and it's science fiction.

Doesn't the operator usually sit at the front of the vehicle? Anyway. Main character got some plot armor I see, no transformation for him yet, though I'll assume his is actually turning into Ultraman. The other guy's transformation looks vaguely crab-like with the spines and ridges that evoke vaguely fish fin-like shapes but they could have gone harder with the body horror to be honest. Why does he still have human ears? Most likely not fully transformed then.

Absorbed...lizards? And used their abilities? Normally, you don't see lizards in labs unless its a herpetologist's. If they wanted to keep the deep sea connection, they should have used octopi. Those little lads are true escape artists. Lizards, beyond being fast and tiny, don't have many abilities that are helpful for escaping what is supposed to be a highly secure lab I think.

Ah. Never mind. Now this begs the question: how did he get those lizards? Those are some very strong Van der Waals forces if they can keep the weight of a modified man up on the ceiling.

To be fair, disabling the camera and lights should have been his first move, and the soldier should have a: brought a friend and b: checked all angles before stepping into the room. Mildly baffled as to where the static came from, since I don't think the humidity from a sign breath is enough to make a camera break, but it's for dramatic effect I suppose.

The guard, if they were still alive, needs to get their hearing checked. The guy didn't drop down immediately and was snarling for a good three seconds at least. Also, tisk tisk, that's a very inefficient way of killing a person. Although I suppose if you're absorbing someone, then it can get a bit messy.

I do appreciate how much more lizard-like the monster got after absorbing lizards, but I honestly don't think the creators were thinking much about having something beyond "spooky monster". I think I'm watching too much TBSkyen but ah, well.

I'm going to assume that this is, at the very least the introduction of a villain. Either a major, Godzilla-esque kind of creature as it absorbs more creatures and acts like a backstory foil for Ultraman due to the two of them having similar origin stories, or it's the start of Ultraman's career as a superhero. Or both. Judging from the fact that it's a movie, I'm inclined to believe it's both. Taking a shot in the dark and I'll say that it'll come down to humanity vs other, both internally and externally.
