Hii Dainn! How are you?
So earlier I read your response to the familial HCs ask and I found it quite interesting. Even though, as you know, I don't particularly like M/F pairings, which includes WxS for various reasons (although I am a firm 1+2 and 3+4 believer for every unit except L/n bc 4=1 duh. but that's not important right now), I thought the Ruinene middle birthday being Tanabata day was pretty interesting. I know the Akitouya middle birthday is the same day that Aun no Beats was released, which could be a coincidence tbh, but considering they covered it, and the song fits them so well, I wonder if it's really a coincidence...? I also wonder if there's other cases of middle birthdays being "special" days
Either way, although I'm not particularly fond of the M/F WxS pairings, but I respect anybody who likes them even if they're not my thing because they do make sense in canon and aren't forced het trash like other M/F pairings (ok sorry i'll leave my hater side aside), I feel like I've been becoming more tolerant (maybe an aggressive word... but I used to dislike them more in the past) because of you and other WxS oomfs. I've also been changing my mind on things related to WxS, too, like the gay Rui headcanon. I realized that my basis for him being gay was pretty much stereotypes (how he looks, how he acts, etc.) + my bias as a gay man (which I don't think is really a bad thing), but I think I changed my mind a bit and am more than fine with a bisexual Rui headcanon, so I don't really have a specific sexuality headcanon for him anymore. Of course, I still think he's gay (not as a sexuality, just that he likes men lol), but I can accept other sexualities now
This last paragraph was kinda unrelated, but it comes from a tweet I saw earlier about bi people and bisexuality being weaponized in pjsktwt when it comes to gay coded / implied characters and people being like "bi people exist!!" when people talk about a character being gay, which I fully agree with; but they used Rui as an example for one of those characters in question and I didn't fully agree with that part lol
Anyways, back to your retrospring response... it was quite nice. While I think sibling headcanons are mostly harmless in theory, I agree that people sort of use them to weaponize(?) pairings that they aren't fond of, and get aggressive over them; I once saw a guy that headcanoned Akitouya as brothers (LOL), but they shipped all of VBS M/F pairings and Akikasa and Touya x Tenma (huge red flags, really. i ran away as fast as i could)
Although those headcanons are harmless if not weaponized, I'm very canonpilled and there's very few I actually like (Shiraishi Akito and Ena are kinda fine, for example, but it's not like I actively think of them), since I don't like altering canon too much and want my headcanons to fit in with the canon. Anyways idk where I was going with this part lol
Lastly. I didn't really think much of their parallels in the past, but Emu and Tsukasa being so family dynamic-based (?) characters, while Nene and Rui are only children is quite interesting to think about. Not to make this about Akitouya, but you already know how I am, I like their family parallels yet contrasting family situations. Akitouya are very contrastful... let's talk about Akitouya eventually /hj
So yeah. Parallels are great. Very nice Retrospring answer, I agree with it and liked it. Have a nice day! đŸ™‚
Hiya Gay Dogs oomf! I'm doing fine... had a very nice sleep, lol.
Totally get that lol. I'm also becoming more of a 12/34 as the days go by. But if you're not Leoni 4=1, why bother? (kidding but. those guys really are all crazy for each other...)
I think Aun being a middle birthday thing is pretty intentional. Considering they went out of their way to add a song for them they can't even release a full version for due to Hanyuu Maigo's rules, to me that suggests they REALLY wanted it. Lining it up on their middle birthday is the cherry on top. Not quite the same since it isn't a half birthday, but the Tenma Three have the 8 day gaps between their birthdays, and 88 is the number of keys on a piano, an important part of their history. So that marks 3 known ones! If anyone who reads this happens to know any interesting trivia about middle birthdays between any notable pairs (or even just birthdays in general, I'd be curious) feel free to send a message.
And definitely not the same, but I do frequently think about 1112 being the full MAS combo for Utsuro... y'know, Akito's birthday number... a song written about partnership, and an event dedicated to that bond.
I agree, I think that's the big difference between WxS m/f. It's literally baked into the unit. Some random het trash pairing (it's okay I'll also hate with you) like some of the stuff we'll see float around on twitter... Some of the things I've seen people say or treat them like tradwives to strong men which is like, wtf?
I mean, can you imagine these pairs working...? I can't, and I doubt you could either. Maybe just me, but I think a lot of people don't really consider like... how far these relationships could or would go.
And that's cool! Yeah the treatment of bi people and bi characters in prsktwt is genuinely crazy. Some people straight up cannot fathom the existence of them and will demean others for believing in stuff like bi Rui (probably the biggest battleground for this topic, lol) while others use them as a "gotcha" to any particularly sapphic girl in the game which pisses me off so much as a bi person. I've had a cishet person argue with me (bi person) because I didn't like bi MINORI hcs. Come on now...
HCing Akitoya as brothers while you ship them with Tsukasa and m/f VBS is a special kind of hilarious. Like you can just TELL that person is malding and is a mega contrarianđŸ˜ I'm also very canonpilled, but I can accept some with a strong argument. I can understand stuff like Shiraishi Akito and Ena because of stuff like Ken and Akito's deeper bond than Ken has with Kohane and Toya, so it's even more like a dad and his son, and An and Ena having a convo or two where they literally go "I wish you were my sister" .. I think it's a fun interpretation of canon. It's sortof like a cute "what if?" scenario. I'm certainly not gonna die on this hill though, I don't feel strongly over this one, I just understand where it can come from.
I'm a big fan of parallels too, they're super cool... I like how this game does them quite a lot.
You might be joking, but I'd totally be down to discuss Akitoya some more with you. I'm only sorta articulate and you probably can say things more thoughtfully than me, but I really like their stories together, but I'm a huge Toya fan at heart... I love that guy more than I let on.
And you too, have a nice day...! Or well, night, you're most certainly asleep by the time I post this one...
