The only death I know of was my grandmother's uncle who died at sea when his ship sank.

There was also one time when my grandmother was walking to school on her own and there was a German air raid. She had to lie down in the street gutter, as her mum had told her to, while the bombs were falling around her. I can't even imagine modern parents in the UK allowing their young children to walk to school unaccompanied as it is, let alone while there's a threat of air raids.
