hi! is there a chance you would do commissions one day? :0
I really do appreciate all the interest and I'm grateful it's there! Honestly if I ever do them it'll be sort of an emergency funds situation, so I don't want to say never but it's not something I'd say to plan for.
hello, do you only do gay couples? as a woman, don't want protagonist for women as well?
As a woman, I'm drawing exactly what I want to draw which is the real representation that matters :)
Hi, what resources would you say contribute most in your character art ? and do you plan to make art tutorials? i'm obsessed with your designs on castlevania, and stylization is my weakness (p.s. i'm not familiar with your following, it seems the questions here is more about your original series, i'm sorry if this is a bit unfitting :( is it better to ask these sort of questions on your twitter?
We wanted to keep the style for Castlevania Kojima-esque and beyond that my biggest personal inspiration was historical dress. It was really fun to research different fashions and give them a shot of fantasy. Nocturne has a ton of characters in fancy 18th-century gowns and hairstyles-- our animators are amazing but we have to make sure we're conveying the richness of it all without killing them.
One of my coworkers said they always knew when a character came from me because they had "man of Gondor" vibes. I love a guy in a big fuckoff skirt, what can I say.
so how tall is clover and halsin? in feet/inches
Halsin is very tall, a bit over 7 feet. Clover is smaller than most of the party, Halsin guessed a few over 5 feet, considering how far he has to look up at him.
Do you have anywhere I can read stuff about these two cuz I love them already
I'm working on a sort of compilation post on tumblr (@tendermiasma) but for now my bg3 tag has a lot of stuff!
Did Clover help Halsin with the shadow curse etc, or is their story divergent from the game?
He did, in time. In the Shadowlands he felt exposed and vulnerable with nowhere to run. When the party started ordering him down from taking extra watches he exhausted himself with concealment spells. Halsin in particular seemed concerned with his welfare, encouraging him to rest, which made Clover vow never to close both eyes again. Halsin's entanglement with the Fey made him, in his eyes, his greatest threat. Halsin's want to keep him close felt like a hound guarding his master's kill, waiting for his return. He'd walked in darkness before and braved the Shadowfell when the little thing inside him that his whole life kept him alive, that screamed and screamed to run or die, reached a fever pitch. It ended poorly. It pained Halsin that Clover looked at him with such confused mistrust, that he shrank from him, but he knew something wasn't right-- he was a healer and saw injury of a different kind. He was him who carried Clover back to the firelight and kept him in his own tent to recover. As kind as he was, it was unwise for anyone to keep Clover from him then.
In its unfamiliar warmth was the first time Clover ever spoke of what happened to him. He spoke in the weight of forests holding lost years and spells and a man in the bones of an owl. It all lay about in a half-light, a moonlight throwing long shadows on what he could not say, what he could not remember, what choked him from fear to even whisper.
While he was unable to leave-- due to his physical state and later Halsin's strong insistence-- they had many hushed hours to spend together. It was the first time Clover noticed the heaviness in Halsin's eyes that would part like clouds for the sun when there was something to be done. Clover softened under Halsin's murmured conversation and learned not to pull from his hands. He was only able to stand so much though; Halsin's intentioned touch was overwhelming. It was gentle and mindful and consumed his entire senses and made him want to bolt for the Shadowfell once more. He wanted to cut out every part of him that Halsin's hands had touched because he wanted to think of anything else besides the memory of them lingering on his skin. He wanted him to never stop touching him. He wanted to set the tent on fire.
The warm and deep scent of the blankets and furs that Halsin piled around him was intoxicating and dangerously comforting to Clover. He had to put nettles under his cheek to keep him from falling asleep. It sometimes wasn't enough. When Halsin drew close, Clover was enveloped in the same scent.
It took a great amount of trust for Clover to finally help Halsin lift the Shadow Curse and rescue Thaniel. He began to see Halsin's true heart when he very nearly made the whole world stop for him, just by giving him a place to be and a little bit of care without Clover having to look over his shoulder. Even if he still watched, he watched him differently. He defended the gateway with a ferocity and sense of purpose he could never remember feeling before; that something had meaning now. He knew the thing that Halsin would carry back with him. He did not know what he would do. But the little animal that lived in him that always told him to run was waiting for him, too.
What is an average day for Halsin and Clover once they settle in together?
I haven't finished the game actually so I don't know what specifically Halsin does after BG3, but it seems like he'll find himself busy with very fulfilling social work and fighting the system wherever they go. Probably with kids (honestly I hope, please don't say anything). Clover is going to need to settle into a new reality where he's being led out of survival mode and into a place that truly is safe that he can build a life in, and first he just needs time to recover. I see them spending a lot of time at home in the beginning but Clover doesn't follow him out as quickly as Halsin takes on those new responsibilities. Recovery takes time. Most of the time at the start, he'd curl up somewhere small and wait for him to come home. But as things go on, he starts gardening, he cooks for him as he's always done at camp because it brings him joy, finds hidden spaces in their home that makes Halsin think he's lost him for some horrible amount of time. He's very good at stowing himself away, like your cat going missing in your 500-square-foot apartment. He's a weaver at heart, though-- that's what they called those who learned magic back in his village. His mother was a weaver, too. It was something she passed to him that no rift of time or memory could take away. He'd begin exploring magic for the sake of it, to understand instead of just to live to tomorrow, and he'd go on to make some notable contributions to the study of Fae magic. He never lost his quirky ways of spell construction though. They'd always helped open up some aspects of the Weave for him that were a little unorthox, if not necessarily recommended. He did also join Halsin in his service to the community. Not to be too meta but I always pictured Halsin in a more grassroots role that became more apparent as something he truly wanted to do, as the game progressed, and I think Clover would be drawn to this too-- especially if they worked with children. Even if he never had the social stamina Halsin did. Both of them feel a strong need to protect kiddoes. Halsin has a long history of it and Clover lived it. He never wanted a child to feel that fear and utter loneliness, ever.
BIG ramble there because I have brainworms
The way you draw anatomy is so inspiring! Would you mind talking a bit about how you learnt anatomy and any resources or tutorials that helped?
Thank you! I'll repeat this until I turn to dust: Draw from life. I've done that since I was a kid, just looking at stuff and trying to make it look like the photo or the thing in front of me. I spent many hours seated in front of my Legolas poster trying to get his lips just right. I wish I had a more in-depth answer for you and maybe there's things I could have done along the way to speed it up or hone my focus better, but really just looking at a body/pose and noticing the little details and filing them away as you draw it does pretty well. I have... not really looked up tutorials. I do for environments and stuff but for anatomy I'm pretty strictly observation. I have one of those Phicen silicone dolls that's good for large-brushstroke posing.
If you had to choose an eeveelution to represent Clover out of the choices of Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Espeon, or Umbreon which would he be? 👉👈
I don't know anything about pokémon so you can pick for me
Hello there! Too shy to do this directly. I just wanted to say something because I've been following you since I saw your Vampire Hunter D stuff (Alucard and D comic), but I love your stuff in general. Seeing your art of Halsin and Clover inspired me to push myself to draw some spicier stuff but with that "care" and "feel" in it. I don't know how to describe it but it's more than just lewd for the sake of it. your Art conveys so much about the relationship of the two, also gestures/poses and how your draw the hands and the facial expressions, they are so delicately put together. Ok too much rambling. Thank you so much for creating inspiring art and sharing it!
Thank you so much! Erotic art is a wonderful medium for character acting. It not only shows how people feel about each other but how they regard themselves too.
