When was the last time the US government surprised you?

I don't pay much attention to the US government. My country's government is enough to make my mind blow. Thanks

I would say making Juneteenth a federal holiday, but then it's pretty much the same thing the federal government always does - symbolism and crumbs for black people, no meaningful policy that will impact lives. So no surprises here

The judicial branch, which no thanks to a stolen SCOTUS pick leans 6-3 conservative, has for the most part been partisan free. It even struck down an absurd challenge to Obamacare by a 7-2 margin. I am very surprised by this.
