If you're referring to the logos I've made for Frames, they were made by me. As for icons specifically, I've used the ones built into PowerPoint (in some cases), and in the UI test I used slightly modified Windows 95 icons.
The Revolutions are intentionally made vague, but I'll try and explain it. Despite laws attempting to prevent it, billionaires still hoard insane amounts of wealth, inequality was at an all time high, increased unemployment, etc. culminated in massive social changes that rippled worldwide. Think of the French Revolution, but instead of royal people it's the 1%.
Yeah, this timeline is pretty biased - it's ultra optimistic and is a right-wing politician's nightmare - but who cares? It's also an in universe reason as to why the timeline stops in 650 - I didn't want to continue making mockups past that date (as I'm not very good with future mockups), so I added a BS reason as to why and left it as is.
What are the branding and UI fonts in Minicomp Frames?
Graphical and Frames 3/4: Cinzel and Adobe Ming for branding, some font from the Oldschool PC Pack for UI
Frames 5/6: Adobe Jenson Pro, likely Times New Roman or System for the UI fonts
Frames '95-99SE: versions of Helvetica for branding, Arial for UI text (99 uses Arial and Trebuchet MS)
Frames '02-04: Libre Franklin for branding, Trebuchet MS and an undecided font for the UI (changed to Futura for elements of branding and most UI text in '04)
Frames '04-Opal: Futura and variations
Frames Sapphire-Copper: Mulish and variations
Frames Emerald-Crystal: variations of Ryo Gothic Plus
Haven't done the UI for 99% of them (and as for some of them it's just a little box that happens to use the system's default font), so the UI font on these are likely to change. The branding's final though, of course.
What does the desktop of Minicomp Frames look like? (over the years) -Mylar Dale Tolo
while I haven't 100% finalised them juuust yet, here's the general gist of what I imagine it to look like:
Graphical 1.0: similar to the Windows 1.0 BYTE/Window Manager Demonstration 0.01 build but with more influence from DOS and other text-based UIs for DOS
Graphical 2.0: similar to the Tandy-era Windows 1.0 builds
Frames 3.0: Windows 1.03 with proper windowing support ala Windows 2.0
Frames 4.0: Windows 2.1's MS-DOS Executive
Frames 5/6: Program Manager /w some slight tweaks (6 adds a proto-taskbar similar to the Windows 95 UTB builds), perhaps some influence from OS/2 1.x?
Frames 95-post: taskbar (99SE introduces themes, Frames '02 introduces a sidebar, Frames '04 introduces the Longhorn Excalibur concept's taskbar and transparency, and Sapphire makes it more segmented (as for Quartz onwards, it introduces elements from various Windows concepts you might find online)
of course, I haven't even done the desktops yet (let alone, most of the beta Frames versions), so this might change. also, your Recivilised World vids are pretty good! I'm happy and also surprised that my work is inspiring others to do something similar.
Have you made something that you no longer have access too?
oh yeah, there's a TON of stuff I've made but don't have access to, including but not limited to:
anything made on my Facebook account pre-2019 (mostly just shitty fake DS covers made in Paint (starring Koopa Troopas if I remember correctly), but it also had the first OS mockup I ever made)
the original PNG files for the mockups from WNR 1-OSM 2 (though they likely still exist in the archives of Aero or the OSMK servers)
the terrible PowerPoint OSs I made when I was like... 7 (they're all stuck on my primary school's servers and some of them are on my family's dead PC from like a decade ago). I remember that they looked awful by my standards - it was a mess of aqua, blue, and green, plus all of the effects in PowerPoint (glow/reflection/shadow/everything) - but it'd be nice to look back.
the nearly finished solarpunk OS solinus asked me to do (something happened and I lost the PDN file - that's why you save your shit)
Windows 7 Classic Edition (I took it down due to sensitive data being on the VM, and the only person that has a copy iirc is the channel Everything Windows). I planned to make a better version, but I scrapped it because 7 ran quite slow in a VM for some reason.
the password to my Cairo2011 account (dunno why I named myself that only on DeviantArt, but the context is that I intentionally removed my password for some reason after leaving one final message)
and there's probably more I've completely forgot about.
Are you gonna do non-bootscreen stuff (like desktop and logon screens) for Project Fossil or are they not planned yet?
What happened to your previous alternate Windows timeline (the one before Project Fossil)?
