What memories if any do u have as a child going to the video game store?
I kept my fingers crossed when picking out a game to have mom or dad buy me, hoping they would approve of it as I bring it to them. It was so rare for me to be able to go to it that I even felt overwhelmed walking in, and looking around. It was like GameStop which succeeded it.
So that's my memories from stores where you BUY games.
I remember special occasions where I chose a Sega Master System (SMS) game to have for my birthday/Christmas, like RoboCop Versus The Terminator, or Micro Machines.
Or the time we went to get a second-hand SNES with Street Fighter II for my birthday.
Or when we occasionally went to Blockbusters, and I got to choose a game to rent; some that I remember are The Incredible Crash Dummies (SMS, rubbish game), Krusty's Fun House (SMS) and Pocky & Rocky (SNES).
I also loved to just look at all the video game boxes/cases on the shelves; I remember looking at Super Mario Kart and Super Mario All Stars, in the now defunct Woolworths store, and wishing I could play them. And later on, I was lucky enough to do exactly that when I got them for my birthday (or Christmas).
I went there every day to buy game boy games.
I never was at such a store as a child.
