So, with Mother's Day in a few weeks time, I'm wondering: What does the day look like for your OCs (if they take part in it at all)? Be it if they're the ones celebrating their madre or if they're the maman in question
For the Villenueves: Emille makes a phone call to the hospital so Yorra's day is conspicuously clear and sets her alarm a few hours late. When she does wake up to breakfast made lovingly by her kids (they get better at eventually), they take turns reading out what they're thankful to her for and then either spend the afternoon watching old movies or outdoors. As the kids got a little older, the latter started turning into opportunities to challenge their mom to pokemon battles since the opportunity is rare enough as is
Towards the night Yorra gets handmade presents from Emille and the kids and their aware enough that she doesn't care much for grand presents so this has resulted in her getting some downright silly knickknacks that she ends up taking to work the next day lol
((Yorra for her part makes sure to leave some time free to talk to Shauna and thank her for being the mother she needed in her later years. And sometimes, after the kids are asleep, she and Emille will go to the cemetery where a monument inscribed with a set of names rests and raise a small glass to the people and pokemon that mother-henned them during their mutually problematic younger years))
Adiunna - a rather old Pokemon, was (for a brief time) the only maternal figure Elio has ever known, occasionally raising him alongside her adopted son - Molesurya, who would eventually become Elio's first Nigredo Pokemon.
On the anniversary of her death, Elio would dedicate prayers to appeasing Adiunna, hoping that her soul was forever at peace in the heavens above. Not to mention, he and Molesurya would exclusively do activities they've done in their childhood in honor of her memory - away from the rest of the team. It's both the happiest and most depressing time of the year.
Mahra usually calls her mother and sends a gift (She doesn't live in Isbar), and she used to spend the day with Wily because she didn't want to him to be lonely.
Wily himself never particularly cared that he didn't know his mother (He figures she either knew what his father was really like and left, or she's dead, and either way he wouldn't want to drag her back into his family if she is alive somewhere.)
After Wily became an adult Mahra figured he was above needing the company, but got surprised when he showed up of his own volition. The significance was completely lost on Wily, but not on Mahra.
Mother's Day is actually a pretty important day to Mamiko. She pays her respects to the mothers she's lost, her biological one as well as the Lugia that raised her. And then she shows her appreciation to Jin and Mary for taking her and Umi in by doing the Mother's Day classics, breakfast in bed, flowers, the works.
Estella and her mother have a bit of a terse relationship. Of her family, Estella's mom was the one who least approved of her decision to become a trainer. It's still a bit of a sore spot between the two, especially since Estella inherited all her stubbornness from her mom, but when they get together and get their grievances off their chest they get along. Estella brings her mom her favorite blends of tea and coffee, along with new seeds to plant in the family garden.
