The Spanish word 'temor' means more than just fear. Do you know words that in other languages cover a wider field a bigger universe of meaning than that in your own?

What Merida said is valid for Portuguese too. Other than that, I'd say swear words often aren't used in the literal sense.

Well The English word “angel” means a supernatural being often represented with wings. Angel in German translates to ”fishing rod” and ”sting” in Dutch😁
