Random thought: What if puffballs had weird little scrubby tongues for grooming and eating purposes?
Frenching a borb would be like making out with a piece of fine-grit sandpaper.
I imagine borb diets consist of a lot of natural sugars found in fruits, and with all the crazy creechurs in Dreamland there are probably a lot of those funky exotic fruits. Maybe if a fruit has a bristly surface that is unpleasant for most species borbs and others can just l i c k the surface clean.
I mean, big cat tongues are actually meant to help scrape the fur and skin off of meat -- why not a similar adaptation for the more herbivorous side? XD
