hii Petra ! I just wanted to hop on here and say how much I love your listography. your page is so aesthetic and the lists are very fun/cool to read. I love it so much! I think we are alike in many ways. I also love Putt-Putt, Humungous games and playing games I would never play myself. Games that make you think "Bro, what IS this and who would buy it?" LOL. I love it though. It makes me happy to know that I have something in common with a cool gal on the internet hehe -Babydoll ♡ ^_^
Greg House, Sherlock Holmes, Sheldon Cooper, and Spock are all autistic or at least autistic-coded IMO. Spencer Reid (Criminal Minds) and Temperance Brennan (Bones) also fit the bill. (I know Bones isn't a man, but still.) As an autistic person, I often find that we get the best autistic representation from TV shows where the writers claim the character isn't autistic, or at least didn't intentionally write them that way.
Yes ! I'm definitely aware of that - I remember the very first time I read the word "autistic" (a long time ago now lol) was in a YouTube comment about Sheldon ! He was my favorite fictional character at the time so it was eye-opening haha! I guess in this type of fictional characters that I listed there's two subtypes: autistic(-coded) and "too cool for feelings" aka repressed (like Roman from Succession, Loki from Marvel). ^^ And about the representation: I'm not autistic but I've heard from others that the actually-canon autistic characters aren't actually that great of a representation most of the time ("Atypical" comes to mind, though I personally liked the show I don't actually know how accurate it was), which is really unfortunate and I hope that changes ! And thanks for the two suggestions, I will keep them in mind ! :D
About Listfauxgraphy: I actually discovered it on GitHub !! So this person made their code available for other ppl to add to their own personal sites. And your right it's just a page for looks and not funcional at all. But that's what I thought was super interesting about it !! The fact that ppl would rather have a static copy of the real thing that they can customize however they want other than the one that's actually functional but looks kinda rough. So I guess it was more a question of how do you view ppl choosing looks over functionality as web dev, but now I'm really curious about your site and excited to use it too !!
Ahh that makes a lot more sense! I honestly value customization/looks in general very highly so I definitely understand that part. Personally I am just too lazy to maintain a static website like that, so I'd much rather just click "edit" on listography. Plus I love the social aspect of listography that gets lost with static sites. I also personally don't think listography is ugly or anything (except that it doesn't work on mobile), because I like the simple style -- But I can see why some people might disagree with that haha! In general I would say that functionality > looks, always, but it depends on what you define as "functional" - If a static website is enough for someone that is also "functional" :) And thanks for your interest!! I really hope I'll have time to at least finish a beta version! :) If you have any feature suggestions/wishes feel free to tell me!
Have you heard of Listfauxgraphy? People have been coding their own pages inspired by listography because the customization options on the real one are too limiting !! It makes me super sad because listo is my fav site but the user potential is soooo wasted. What do you think about it as a web dev?
I haven't heard of it! Just checked it out, and if I understand correctly it's just someone's personal homepage (hosted using neocities) with the layout looking kind of like listography. In fact, it's probably possible to do that with userstyles (to change colors and fonts on a website etc). I didn't see a "real" way to register/login but maybe I'm missing something? Overall I totally agree that listography doesn't have many options (though that's understandable, because it's a team of only 2 people). I actually started working on my own site inspired by Listography (where it's actually possible to register) but real life has been so stressful that I haven't been making progress - maybe/hopefully I can finish it this summer.
your listography is absolutely gorgeous!! my fave page on there!! /wanda
ANGEL, I fawn over your listography (i'm "s." in your followers) - can you tell me the trick to linking past posts? Some of them work, most of them lead to an error page. You'll see it on my archive list :c
hii! you're so sweet! btw i actually browsed through listography today and landed on your profile and literally said to my sister that your profile is so nice ! so nice coincidence that you're messaging me now! hope you've had a nice christmas if you celebrate!
concerning your problem: i think i know what's wrong. your URLs are incorrect, e.g. your 2021 movie list URL ends in "2021" instead of "2021_–movies.". But I think you probably pasted it in correctly, I know for a fact that listography has trouble with link URLs that contain underscores () because it thinks it's the formatting for bold/italic text, so URLs with _ in them sometimes break. (I've had this problem with Wikipedia links)
Solution: either
A) rename your lists so that the URLs won't have a _ in them, or
B) use a URL shortener (e.g. https://www.shorturl.at/) and link to the short URL instead, or
C) use the permalink of the list instead of the normal one. It looks like this:
https://listography.com/action/list?uid=<YOUR USER ID>&lid=<THE LIST ID>
and doesn't change when you rename a list. It also doesn't have a _ in this, which is why it works.
There are two ways of getting this URL:
1) update your list, go to the profile of someone who follows you (e.g. me) and click on your own list in the "bookmarks" section on the top right. now the URL you see in your browser bar is the permalink one instead of the usual one.
2) use this script that I created for myself: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/472839-listography-easy-copy-permalink
hope that helps!! listography is a bit buggy sometimes haha.
Happy new year!
