When you sleep, do you need background noise like a TV or a fan? Or nah?

I guess I need some sort of steady noise to be able to sleep. I almost always put my earphones on when I go to bed. I usually listen to audio books and podcasts. They're like lullabies that help me sleep.

I do like to watch the beginning of a YouTube vid before I fall asleep tbh but I turn it off before I fully fall asleep

What works best for me is someone talking, but it can't be just any talking, it has to be something I've heard before. New stuff won't work because my brain will be stimulated...so podcasts are really good for that - I can just focus on the voice and drift off that way. Silence just leaves me with my own thoughts and that is bad bad terrible times

No, but sometimes I play music so I won't be bored while I'm falling asleep or when I wake up briefly, etc.
