Your opinion about 1984?

I've never read the book but I know enough about it to know that society is becoming like it, unfortunately.

I was in Ms. Betts 5th grade class. I cut my hair for the first time ever (my dad insisted I keep it long) and I got a second ear piercing. Other than that, I can’t remember too much about it. Must have not been that exciting.

I'm literally living in a society similar to the one described in the book. It was an eye-opening novel. The first time I listened to its audio book, I was comparing the events in the book to similar ones that occurred in my country ...

One of my favorite books ever, and a little bit prescient, at least the part about state media's role in manipulating public opinion, and if you don't think we have state media here, then LOL

Very bleak. And I think the basic premise of it is flawed. In 1984, the antagonists do it purely for control and power. In real life, the control and power is only a means to the ends of money, money, money.
