Would you like it, when no human on this planet has a weapon and it also won't be possible to have a new weapon?

Weapons remain. Fists, voice, words, silence, psychological cruelty, manipulation.

how would that work? wouldn't that mean that'd we'd either have to go without technology in general? that we'd be so fundamentally different from who we are today—to the point where we probably become extinct within the first so or so years on earth?

No, people have a right to defend themselves. And practically anything can be used as a weapon or turned into a weapon so the idea of people not being able to have new weapons is impossible.

No, by stripping ourselves of our prime method of defense we would both hinder ourselves in terms of society and as a species in the grand scheme itself. I think the former in a similar vain of the MAD principle, the latter due to our prime defense itself being tools like weapons, unlike animals we are dependent on tools against hostile nature.
