Surprisingly no! I wrote both my master's and undergraduate theses with Microsoft Word. It was a lot of pain in the neck though. I think I should learn it if I want to be a PhD student.

It's been years ago I used it. I remember it was rather clumsy and required to learn a lot of keystrokes by heart.
