whats your opinion on isekais
Useful, albeit overused trope. I can’t think of any (new) ones I enjoy. Attempts to ‘subvert’ the typical conventions of a isekai turn out rather bland too. I think my disappointment with the genre lies in the fact there are some interesting concepts, but in the end, they’re all the same since people are afraid of doing anything adventurous.
Convenient trope for writing a character that will help the audience understand the setting by their own learning of it throughout a narrative.
It's a useful trope, to be sure, but isn't in and of itself a plot or story on its own. Still gotta actually write something interesting to isekai to at the end of the day.
I like a few, and I think the genre is interesting! Ones like re:zero, tensura, and .hack(?) are some of my favs ^_^ (and of course I’m in love with the villainess don’t let me forget) there’s some that are a little… eh. Not too appealing to me. It’s overdone quite a bit but there are some really interesting ideas to pair it up with. It’s really just a gacha, it can either be super good or super bad. But the genre has grown on me overtime!
they’re overdone. it can be an interesting trope i assume but i honestly haven’t seen one i’ve been a fan of yet but i also don’t find them very appealing in the first place tbh.
i guess a lot of isekai i’ve been exposed to is aimed at the shounen demographic? idk i just don’t really enjoy them, although there are some titles that appeal to me, like that one about working in a tavern. i guess i just prefer slice of life and a lot of the isekai i’ve seen have been basically harem anime which doesn’t appeal to me at all.
theyre alright i guess
90% of them fall into the "anime that sounds really cool in theory but has tropes that make it nearly unwatchable" basket
