"mansplaining" is also annoying. Manspreading is the habit of blocking space by leg spreading and that sitting position in order to demonstrate dominance and body aggression. Also it is a way to show off your male genitals. Funfact: nobody wants to watch your genitals and nobody wants to watch your bully habits. The guys who do such not only do it to dominantly bully females but also other males alike. Feminism is not only the strange idea that females have human rights too. Feminism is the idea that humans have human rights including males. As such it is the attempt to get rid of the toxic male role image that is harming everybody.
I get it in extreme cases - there are some men who open their legs far too much. And for those men, they need to close their legs more to allow people to sit next to them. But women also need to understand that its quite hard for men to close their legs fully because sensitive things get in the way... so I'm on board with the feminists who take issue with those extreme cases but if they are having a go at men who open their legs a bit more than their hips (say by 10%) then you've lost my support.
I think it's a matter of degree, like on an airplane or train or whatever I can certainly understand needing a little space for the boys to breathe and not be pinched and all, but some dudes will like aggressively have their legs at a 145 degree angle just because and that is kind of a dick move
It’s irritating, as this everyday sexism exemplifies male entitlement. In my opinion, it’s not just a disregard of politesse; It is a blatant example of, ‘everyday’ sexism ingrained into society. It’s an emblem of men’s tendency to take up social space. Literally & Metaphorically. Essentially, “Manspreading” is just a very common, and obvious, example of a posture that's (socially) considered okay for men, and not okay for women.
