I did IT support at a hospital, often in emergency rooms, often trying to work on equipment while someone was dying or close to it, and often while someone who loved that person was in the depths of hopelessness and despair...so there was the physical pain of the patient and the emotional anguish of their families...the equipment alarming, the wailing, those sounds are not something I'll ever forget
