This morning I've learned it was perfectly legal to refuse to serve women in pubs in the UK until 1982. What info has shocked you recently
Not shocked exactly, because obviously I already knew slavery was (and is) a terrible thing, but I was listening to a podcast that told the story of Ellen and William Craft's escape from slavery, and with the amount of restrictions and punishments in place to make such a thing as difficult and risky as possible, it's amazing how they or anyone else ever succeeded. And then even after they got to a so-called free state, it was legal for bounty hunters to capture them and take them back. Awful.
I didn't learn this recently but I learned a terrible thing about that kids movie All Dogs Go To Heaven. It was one of my favorite movies growing up. I did research on it a few yrs ago for a youtube video. The young actress who played the little orphan girl in the movie was violently murdered by her father. He set her on fire and everything it was heartbreaking
