Why do people overfill waste and litter containers and some afterwards set them ablaze?

well it starts as laziness, like if a public trash bin is full and the person doesn't want to find another one, or you get the wiseguys who will start a new pile on the ground next to the bin...as far as setting them ablaze, it's probably just soccer fans who are angry, or celebrating, one of those

Probably cheaper and more convenient than taking them to the dump or arranging a pick-up. And the overfilling would just be due to regular old procrastination.

Fire is the answer to everything considered unwanted. This applies to way more things than just waste, sadly.

// I’m not sure. It’s so incredibly wasteful, horrible.
