I think some of us can and probably should live without beer, but it's an old habit, like raisins in oatmeal lol

I don't drink. People actually are driven by the alcoholic properties of the drink. You can also make and drink beer without alcohol which is the original drink of the item. Beer is made from a food designed for horses.

in THOSE days it was safer than water wasn't it? The alcohol served to kill microbes that would just sit and multiply in fresh water? There was maybe also a spiritual/religious component to the magic mind-altering water, also maybe just fun?
