Is it wrong to use technology to avoid communication with someone in the same room?

Hm, I've only ever done that for comedic reasons, OK maybe I've also done it to flirt with somebody...anyway nah it's not wrong to avoid people by using other means of communication, it might even be a form of self-care if it's someone you're uncomfortable dealing with

I guess I'd have to ask why they're trying to avoid communication in that moment. Could be harmless, could be hurtful -- totally depends on the situation between those two people tbh

Like you rather talk to your smartphone than serving a communication request of the person next table?

It's not wrong, it can be fun for both parties. It just shows a preference to such a type of communication. To be honest, I often find it easier to express some things through whatsapp than in person.
