She’s going to be just fine. She will likely be uncomfortable for a bit. Have her consider getting the vaccine because you can still get it after you’ve already had it. https://www.cdc.gov/shingles/multimedia/shringrix-50-older.html#:~:text=Get%20Shingrix%20even%20if%20you,you%20get%20the%20first%20dose.
She'll be perfectly fine if she's been seen by a competent doctor and not a medicine-man in the Amazon. My own mother had shingles last year and recovered with no ill effects. If you haven't been vaccinated against or haven't had Chicken Pox, then give her a wide berth for a few weeks.
Shit. It is a viral infection. It can be painful and long lasting until your immune system can get rid of it. There is no direct treatment but vaccination as far as I know. But in most cases patients are going to be okay eventually. What did doctors say?
She'll be fine if she gets treatment as soon as possible.
Sorry to hear. I'm not a doctor but the advice I'd follow (I work in H&S so often have to understand common illnesses, risk assess things and provide guidance) is to take paracetamol if she's in pain, focus on keeping the rash clean and dry to reduce the risk of infection, wear loose-fitting clothing (avoid tight tough fabrics) and make use of a cold compress or iced peas to cool things down regularly. Any bandages need to cover the wounds in full to prevent infection/cross contamination. If she has a weakened immune system she should consider talking to a pharmacist to get some anti-viral medication to speed up healing. Recovery should be expected in 4 weeks, but expect the skin to be sensitive for some time after the rash has gone. Hope this helps, a full recovery can be expected :)
