Why does lemon grass smell and taste like lemon if it is not a lemon?

Probably the citric scent and taste has been developed by many other plants too as the citric acid is present in so many cases also elsewhere? I guess the underlaying chemistry is abundant?

hm, never really thought about it, maybe the plant contains citric acid, or something similar/related to it?

Idk, it could be biologically related (as in close on the evolutionary tree) to actual lemons.
