Do you laugh when other people suffer misfortune? Is it funny when someone falls over? When is it okay to laugh at another person, and when is it wrong?

I don't laugh at people simply going through it, that is mean-hearted. but I do laugh a lil when poetic justice is served TBH

No. Unless they are laughing at themselves, it’s not ok. It’s ok to laugh with them, though.

Sometimes, yeah lol. It's okay to laugh if they aren't seriously hurt, but if there's been real harm caused then you're lowkey being sadistic.

Joie maligne? It is something that separates us from rats, despite this is not one of our better traits. Though actually some people provoke it and it is a not so aggressive reaction as maybe killing the provokative person which humans also do sometimes.

There are 2 misfortunes that are always universally funny to English People. 1. When a waiter/waitress drops a plate "WHAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY" or 2. when a block gets hit in the balls.

I think it's despicable to laugh when someone is genuinely hurt. Like, for example, when they're trying to skateboard down a rail and fall flat on their face and lose a tooth or two and bleed a lot. I've even seen instances where people dying was supposed to be funny. But I think there are times when it's okay to laugh at someone's misfortune. (Maybe it's still a little wrong, but not too wrong.) Like this video I just laughed at a couple of minutes ago on Twitter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Uwo63HbBEw It's a practical joke. Of course, sometimes even practical jokes just go too far and/or just aren't funny.

Kind of, because I laugh when cats are just trying to mind their own business and some mf hominid decides the approval of the internet outweighs the trust of their friend and gently places a cucumber next to them. They're literally scared for their lives, and yet I'm over here lmaoing
