How comes that people who are prone to believe in conspiracy theories often have right-wing political views?

Because, like Xavier Naidoo said, Hitler and co. were "NationalSOZIALists" so the left, not the right. Hihi.

There is a stronger anti-government sentiment (even one's own government) on that side and most of those theories involve shadowy agencies up to pernicious activities... But the left isn't above it... Here they now go around pushing Russia theories - the weird part is they accuse people to their right AND to their left of being Russian agents with zero proof other than 'they said something I disagree with'

because by and large, they're not in power.

In terms of how ludicrous some stories are, there are believers on either side who happily eat it up if it fits their agenda.

Because they are so wrapped up in themselves they think everyone is out to get them.

Distrust of government, so they want it to have less power? Or general paranoia? (Republicans have a "me against the world" mentality -- "nobody can take MY money!") Or the tendency to be out of touch with reality which is probably necessary to be a Republican?
