Not really, my mom wasn't home for most of the day/week anyway and I totally forgot mothers day. I personally don't really give much about specific days like that either, showing my appreciation doesn't require a specific day or so.

feature idea: notifying any of your groups by using $group, and all of your followers with $everybody, the entire site with $anybody.

With the way notifications are currently implemented? Hell nah.

https://retrospring.net/Jason his account was banned but now it says it was removed. how come or is this an error?

Not all bans are permanent. Most Retrospring bans have been, because people were really aggressive and toxic, but if there is the ability to console someone with a temporary ban as a warning, we take that route.

how come the people who were banned their accounts don't say banned anymore? if they were banned their accounts should still say it.

It still does say it, we didn't change anything about that.

So I added a group just to see how that works

Hello, staff person here, and I guess a good time to elaborate on the group feature.

First and foremost, the feature is not really new, it's probably one of the first things we added to the site like 5 years ago, but...as you can see, we made a really bad job "advertising" its existence, until now.

Groups are nothing like...Facebook groups, and they actually are more comparable to "personal lists", which serve two purposes at the moment:
* You can view groups as feeds on the main page. This basically puts all answers of people of that group into a timeline.
* You can ask every person you put into a group a question. In the place where you can ask followers a question, you now get the option to select a group to ask a question to.

So, in general, this isn't the most useful feature there is, and especially the second point is a bit questionable in the way of "consenting" to receiving questions, and we'll probably rethink that.

With how we handled things back then, a lot of our ideas only got halfway implemented, same for the group feature. For now, we'll see how people use it, and if it gets misused, we'll adjust and remove things accordingly.

Devs: what do you prefer: git or subversion?

(mercurial, fossil, etcetra not allowed.)

Git. I used SVN before and for specific work projects, and the way trunks work there is a living hell to be honest.

At the moment Retrospring has 2208 users but I see less than 50 active users. Why do you think so many users decided to stop using the site?

Because the numbers are inflated by bots. There's 700 accounts that never logged in and never confirmed their email. So the actual user count is more akin to 1500, and that has been stable for quite a long time actually.
