Do you have sensory issues?
My eyes have always been extra sensitive to sunlight. I have to wear sunglasses whenever I go out in the day, even in the car. I remember when I was a kid having to cup my fingers around my eyes like goggles whenever I was outside in the sun. I think I also have night blindness, I figure it's probably from retinal burn-in from all the sunlight.
maybe its the autism (maybe not since idk if i have it yet) but i do for loud places. like yeah i look like i can handle it for a moment but then shit happens and i cant anymore
I suppose so. I've never managed to get anything diagnosed because no doctor ever takes me seriously. I have been trying to convince some doctors that I haven't been able to walk more than 200 meters without being in pain for two months now, so any vague description of a possible sensory issue would never work. But I know I am easily overwhelmed in places that have too much unwanted stimuli/noise: I simply cannot go get groceries for example because I cannot handle supermarkets at all, and have to get them delivered to my house instead. The bright lights, all the ads I can't block, the muzak, someone screaming into a microphone about a thing being on sale for the next 5 minutes, children crying, all the while having to focus on reading a grocery list or remembering what you have to buy, finding the aisles, avoiding collisions with all the people that don't watch out for others at all, etc. I have no idea how the fuck anyone can pull this off, my brain just shuts down after a few minutes.
I’m easily overstimulated. Extremely distracted by background noise/sound (unless it’s white noise) when I’m trying to focus. Little things bother me— tags, rings, the weight of a piece of jewelry, a little seam on the inside of my shoe— these things don’t seem to reach my sensory threshold. It seems to be worse as I’ve gotten older.
to put it lightly
