Say you want to spontaneously wed your partner. What does it need where you live and how fast can it be done?

I'm already married but for the sake of this question, I think I'd have to go to Gretna Green.

You can't ''just get married'' in the UK. You have to go to the local registry office, put in an application for a licence and confirm you're not actually related to your intended.

If that goes through, then there are only certain approved venues where you can wed. In the UK, you cannot get married at home. It has to be a licenced venue.

Not long, my cousin's ordained. He'll have us married by supper sweetpea and we'll be knocking boots by midnight😉😘

Pretty sure you can just run down to the clerk's office with like 50 bucks and you can walk out of there with the deed done the same day, probably a few hours or so wait I'd imagine

An appointment at the county clerk’s office to get your marriage license. Could take a week or more depending on how busy it is. Currently, they are only performing the ceremony via Zoom. I’m assuming one could also drive to Las Vegas to do a quickie wedding. It’s about a 6-hr drive from where I live.

I've done this. All you really need is a justice of the peace, doesn't matter the venue you can do it in your backyard. They only charged us like $100 and we had to wait a few weeks to pickup the marriage license. It's even faster in Las Vegas, there's literally a drive-through for it.
