Do you have a strategy for handling a big dishwashing task? We had a nice open air dinner and we have now a huge load of dishes to clean. I usually start with anything glass after which I start with cutlery and then finally take on the heap of plates. You?

anything that needs to soak stays under the water while I work on things like silverware and glasses, actually your strategy is pretty similar to mine

I go in order of least dirtiest to dirtiest for dishes/pots/pans. Then I finish with the silverware because it all sinks to the bottom, and I can't see that shit til everything else is out of there anyway

I prefer to do plates and glasses/cups first since I wash those much faster, then pots/pans, and finally cutlery.

No but mom does: organize the dishware into size groups, then soap up and scrub each group, then rinse each group.

Soak the plates with hot water then focus on everything else, before getting back to the plates. Why? Because plates are pervasive in how a new dirty one can turn up just when think you're done with your washing.
