Is society more divided than it has been a year ago?

some people are radicalizing (in different directions, for different reasons) but my observation is that they are like 20% of the population (if that) and there is this large part of the population that is comfortable no matter who is in charge and not looking to rock the boat and will stand in the way of meaningful change and justice if it puts them out personally in any way, I guess what I'm saying is that the loudest people in society are a small-ish group but are the most divided and that is not a new phenomenon in the last year

I'm not sure, it seems it was more divided under Trump, but maybe I just haven't been as in touch this year.

On the contrary, society has always been a beautiful chaotic & opinionated mess. It's just now with social media, the factions are clearer and can gather with better ease.
