What makes a picture a “thirst trap” picture? Is it the pose? Clothes or lack of clothing? Is it the angle?

The expressions... saw this girl having a photo shoot in public and every time the camera was snapping she put all she had into making a “sultry” face ... it was so fake 😂

The angle, the filters, the revealing clothes. My tinder dates sometimes turn out to look entirely different in person.

It needs to contain good food/beverages. For example, if someone sends me a pic of a pizza with a cup of soda, I'll definitely feel thirsty and hungry

Intent - the photo is intended for attention/response - clothing (or lack thereof) is just the most common/effective method - I wanted to add this so I'm re-answering: I was thinking about Kate ... Kate takes lots of photos that are lacking lots of clothing, but she doesn't do it for attention or response necessarily, so those would not be thirst traps, thank you for coming to my TED talk
