Its a nice thing to do, but honestly I hate the practice... work should get you the cake!

It's a custom in Germany to bring a cake to your workplace but it is no obligation and some companies have no culture for this. I have no idea how custom and culture are where you live but to try to be nice and get on good terms with other staff might be helpful and a nice treat.

I'm not really sure if you should bring your own cake, I mean maybe people would see it as pathetic because normally if anybody cares about you your coworkers bring the cake for you? Idk, probably not, I don't really know anything about workplace dynamics.
