I use them interchangeably so I don't really care

It sounds weird in my head because I'm not used to them, and I usually just register that this person is bri'ish, keep calm, and carry on without caring much. I'll probably still be using US spellings when replying to them.

I prefer American spellings, except for "aluminum". It's called "aluminium".
