Do you ever really get over depression?
Oh Dr. Andy (Life's Complicated and there'll always be some sort of difficulty that can trigger anyone into darkness) Depression is like the vast murky ocean. Can't see a storm coming BUT once it hits -You'll feel like drowning. Battered&Beaten, You must KeepFocus&KeepAfloat or your past demons will try to get the best of you. My DARKEST days were like a decade ago. I got help but honestly I was never able to fully regain myself from the pre-depression era. **Am I depressed now? >not really (not suicidal) Do I cry often? (sometimes) Do I keep to myself? (frequently) IMPORTANT Words to keep constant are :(FAKE It- Till You Make It)-(Being a constant OPTIMIST and spreading joy is tough sometimes but it helps not only me but others who are going through pain) APPS like VENT & TalkLife are useful resources for anyone.
When you suffer from depression it is a serious illness and the condition will probably last for life but treatment can help to survive and cope with it and lead to a good life after all. But we also might have depressive phases and moods that are showing some similar symptoms though it is not the illness but a temporary phase that usually does not need treatment.
I don't think so, I believe you just learn to manage it enough that it takes a backseat.
Nobody else can do it.
I don't think you "get over it", like it just poofs away one day. I think with difficulty people recover from depressive episodes. And I think people with chronic depression can manage their symptoms, but like with a physical illness there are good and there are bad days.
