What is the dumbest thing you believed as a child?
I forgor
I knew the earth was spherical … but I Imagined it as a hollow shell resting on the “ground”and we lived NOT in the surface, but inside, on the point of contact. See pic for reference. https://ibb.co/2vm7vJM
Pee is stored in the balls (girls also have balls)
The world used to be in black and white
Each person is the best in the world at something, but unless you happen to try that specific thing, you'll never know
It's only one mile up to the edge of space
There was something special about me, like I was destined for something important or had special powers, and everyone else knew about it, but they had to keep it secret from me until I was older
Black women's titties gave chocolate milk, is that racist or cute?🤣
I didn't come up with or believe a lot of the common kid misconceptions, for some reason. But I at least half believed that food shaped like animals could feel pain, til I was like six. I did it with toys, too. No one told me that was the case. So I don't know why I thought it was possible. I think there was a part of me that already knew it was impossible, but I still worried about it being possible.
I don't usually think it's exactly fair to call anything kids believe dumb, though. They haven't really had the chance yet not to be dumb, you know what I mean? Of course kids believe things that are incorrect, or come up with explanations for things that aren't quite right. But animal shape implies ability to feel pain? That's pretty dumb.
That people go to church to beg for mercy because they were guilty of having nailed a man on a wooden cross. And I feared they might do that to me too when they find out that I knew a dead person cannot give you mercy.
