Nah, it is making me feel like a toddler and the person using the word seems so patronising to me that I hate it. When you want to call me in a tender and loving way you may better say "love", "darling" or anything without making me feel like a piece of meat, an object of just sexual interest or such.
I was never called baby but now, when in passion and the woman calls me that I won't lecture her on how bad that is.
By friends and sweet old people? Yes, I big time fuck with that parental energy. By partners? It's not my favorite, I wouldn't tell someone not to call me that though. One time an EMT was calling me baby, and that was OK. Kinda wished he was my dad for a sec tho, so that's probably why I'm not that fond of partners ding it. But I do want to point out he was the only male EMT I've encountered in this neck of the woods that didn't give off unpleasant cop-vibes.
