Are you a leftist?
In the UK, there's a website that shows you the policies from each party running for election, but it doesn't tell you which party they belong to. The idea is that you pick the policy you most agree with in each category and at the end it will tell you which party you agree with the most. When I took it last year, 2/3 of the policies I chose were from centre-left/left wing parties and 1/3 were from centre-right/right wing parties. I've never voted for a right leaning party in a general election (and don't plan to), but over the past decade, I've felt more and more alienated by the direction that left wing politics has been heading in, and it's pushed me closer to the centre, but I'd still consider myself centre-left, just about.
Yeah, I think everyone knows that though. The first time I was able to vote in a presidential election was the 2012 election when Obama was running for his second term. I unintentionally infuriated my dad (who was voting for Romney ofc) because I causally said I thought Obama was too conservative.
No
I am neither a leftist nor a rightist, I find it absurd that there is no party that aims at reason. A conservative party could stand aside a burning house doing nothing arguing like this: It is the duty of the property owner, we always watch things burning down, we did it like this since ages and my granddad did it too, when we let burn it down it will give builders new revenue, nobody asked us to do something and we aren't payed anyway. A leftist party could stand by and use the same points and add that there should be a fire insurance for everyone, so no problem, they will act when the neighbourhood has a plan and an expressed will to let them help, and they'll provide shelter and food later on when people are homeless. Actually nobody would try to extinguish the flames. Though this would be the first thing to do. when you have a brain. See? All people demanding reason to be at the core of political actions are extremists and unwanted and commies and ultra far left idiots.
