I don't do it, my underwear is made from a fabric that must not suffer from temperatures above 60 degrees. But when your underwear suffers from heavy stain, blood and other stuff it might be necessary and if you have bacteria or viruses in your blood or faecal matter boiling might be an option.

I've never heard of that, and I wouldn't, but I guess to kill germs. Like E Coli or something.
