Math question: is statistics boring? The admission grade requirements for it are the lowest of all courses at my uni.

This past quarter, I had two courses heavily related to probability theory and statistics. While the material can sometimes be really abstract, the applications and use cases are interesting.

P.S. Probability is difficult for me to understand. I'm a bit more comfortable with calculus and algebra.

I don't think so, but I'm someone who likes math - it's a little subjective. Maybe to make it more interesting, you could think of real world applications for it? It can be used with almost any field.

Seems to depend. Statistics of datasets used in social sciences or biology or where ever a basic statistical analysis is needed and used has relatively easy mathematical foundations but the results are tricky and often highly interesting for an open mind. Also the possible misuse and wrong interpretation of statistical results are an highly non boring field. On the other extreme side there is statistical Physics, statistical Mechanics with demanding math and demanding scientific work. Though that might not be what they teach in beginners courses.

No, pretty interesting. There are a lot of fun examples/applications. No one coming out of a stats class will say, “where is math used in real life ???” Undergrad level stats is mostly computational and barely any theory delving. And most courses use calculators or special programs for majority of the tedious calculations. At our college, there are no prerequisites for taking a stats class, but that doesn’t mean it’s boring!

Entry level statistics was imo, but that's most entry level courses. You have to just learn the vocabulary and how things work before you get to the more fun and advanced ideas and how to work with them
